RED DOG SALOON
A 125-YEAR MYSTERY, CAPTURED IN A BOTTLE.
This special edition marks the 125th anniversary when Mr. Jack Daniel opened the doors of his Red Dog SaloonTM. Formerly situated on the Lynchburg town square, all that remains of the Red Dog SaloonTM are myths and legends - until now.
We are pleased to release the limited edition Red Dog SaloonTM , commemorating the days when you could buy a drink of Jack's smooth sippin' Tennessee Whiskey in the town where it was made. Like every drop of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey, this limited edition is distilled right here in Lynchburg, just as it was when Mr. Jack opened his saloon back in 1892. And, if the Red Dog Saloon was anything like its sister watering hole, the White Rabbit SaloonTM, the house was packed with music, camaraderie and conversation. We hope you enjoy yours the same way.
Bottled at 86 proof, Red Dog Saloon is available in select markets across the US and internationally.

Jess Gamble served as our Master Distiller for just two years. But it was an important time, Jess was the first of our head distillers to come from outside Jack’s family. Even so, he made sure the whiskey was made and mellowed Mr. Jack’s way.

SAVOUR EVERY MOMENT
- Colour: Mahogany
- ABV : 43%
- Nose: Opulent, yet soft and slightly meandering, picture an orchestra setting up: quiet vanilla with deep notes, already in tune; raisin bold and booming, though only in spells; chocolate a star performer, but not a standout; a sweet ensemble of apple, lemon and orange, beautifully balanced with a spicy quartet of root ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Then oak conducts, mature and elegant, with patience only time delivers.
- Palate: The spicy quartet leads, loud and full, unwavering in their performance. Raisin dares to temper - and succeeds – but oak takes control; timeless, polished, rich and resonating. Vanilla and chocolate compliment each other in the background.
- Finish: Light citrus zest, yet full and warming
Soon to be available for the Public. Stay tuned.

Bottled at 90 proof, and made with unique “Sinatra Barrels”, Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select pays tribute to Jack’s biggest fan: Mr. Frank Sinatra. These Sinatra barrels have deep grooves on the inside of the staves — which exposes the whiskey to extra layers of oak. This imparts a rich amber color, bold character and a pleasant smokiness, followed by an incredibly smooth vanilla finish. Much like Frank himself, this whiskey is one of a kind.
FRANK AND JACK
Frank Sinatra loved Jack. That’s Jack, as in Daniel’s. The Tennessee Whiskey. It was on stage with him every night. And before long, a glass of Jack Daniel’s was as much a part of him as his tuxedo, his fedora and his golden voice. Frank loved Jack so much, he was even laid to rest with a bottle of it. So it seemed only fitting not just to pay tribute, but to share a drink, with the man who loved us as much as we love him.
FRANK AND JACKIE
Frank Sinatra and Jackie Gleason were close friends. In fact, it was Jackie Gleason himself who introduced Frank to Jack Daniel’s. And as the story is told, it was sometime in the 1940s. Jackie and Frank were sitting together at a bar in New York City. Frank was forlorn – over a woman – and was sharing his troubles with Gleason. Frank informed his good friend that he was in need of a “serious” drink. Turning to Sinatra, Gleason responded “Jack Daniel’s. That’s a good place to start.” And the rest, as they say, was history.
In 1967, Jack Daniel’s salesman Angelo Lucchesi heard talk that Frank Sinatra was at the Copacabana and couldn’t find any Jack Daniel’s (as it was in much shorter supply back then.) Without hesitation, Lucchesi saw to it that a supply of Jack was delivered to Frank immediately. Indebted, Sinatra called Angelo at home and said, “Paisano, you’re my kind of man. I love you forever.” This was the beginning of a 31-year friendship between Frank and Angelo where Frank would fondly refer to Lucchesi as “the Kid.” And it was Lucchesi himself who personally ensured that Frank Sinatra always had Jack Daniel’s with him no matter where he traveled.
DRINK JACK THE WAY FRANK DID
Frank Sinatra was quite particular about how he drank his Jack. For starters, only a traditional rocks glass would do. In it he would place three rocks of ice, two fingers of Jack and a splash of water. And he wouldn’t drink it immediately after it was poured. He liked to let the drink sit for a bit for the flavors to blend. Sinatra also loved to hold his drink with his right hand. He often cupped the glass from below, with a cocktail napkin, preferably a linen one. Like we said, he was particular.

I.W. HARPER bourbon takes root as Isaac Wolfe and Bernard Bernheim along with silent partner Eldrige Palmer start Bernheim Bros. distillery in Paducah, Kentucky with $3200. Just a few years later the Bernheim brothers acquire the I.W. HARPER trademark
Isaac Wolfe Bernheim was born in Germany in 1848, and by 1867 had arrived in New York with only $4 in his pocket but rich in ambition. He peddled goods on horseback until the fateful passing of his horse, which led him to a job as a bookkeeper at a wholesale liquor business. Denied a promised partnership after years of work at the firm, I.W. Bernheim and his brother Bernard set off on their own, and a legend began.
I.W. HARPER was duly recognized with numerous gold medals throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s—most famously taking the Gold Medal at the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.
AN ENDURING REPUTATION
The Bernheim Brothers thrived during Prohibition as one of only ten distilleries allowed to legally produce for medicinal purposes. Though I.W. HARPER bourbon was not one of these medicinal whiskies, the brand still endured. The I.W. HARPER 1928 Ford Model A, located at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, gives a nod to the brand’s premium quality withstanding the test of time.
I.W. HARPER bourbon advertising becomes a testament to its refined reputation, while I.W. Bernheim continues even in his final years to pursue innovation—fine-tuning I.W. HARPER’s boiler to reduce the density of the smoke from its power plant by 65%, which improves the rich flavor of the whiskey.
I.W. Bernheim passes away in 1945 and is buried in his other passion project, the Bernheim Forest, located in Clermont, Kentucky.
In 1955, the iconic I.W. HARPER bourbon ceramic decanter is debuted. The “Traveler” carrying case is also released, I.W. HARPER becomes the favorite bourbon served on all ocean liners, and the world’s love affair with I.W. HARPER grows.
I.W. HARPER TRAVELS TO 110 COUNTRIES.
I.W. HARPER bourbon was welcomed with pleasure wherever it went. By 1966 the brand becomes an international sensation, traveling the world to become a bourbon enjoyed in 110 countries.
Even furthering its role in the spotlight, in 1963 I.W. HARPER bourbon is featured in Ian Fleming’s classic James Bond novel, and later the movie of the same title, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” in which Bond—James Bond drinks I.W. HARPER bourbon over ice.
In 1972, I.W. HARPER bourbon celebrates a major milestone with its 100th Birthday, and it continues to be enjoyed internationally throughout the decade.
A NEW CHAPTER UNFOLDS OVERSEAS.
In the 1980s Back at home the bourbon market is declining, but luckily for I.W. HARPER it’s quickly expanding across the globe, especially in Japan. In response to bourbon's surging popularity in this market, United Distillers decides to slowly cease its I.W. HARPER distribution in the U.S. and shift focus overseas. And thus, I.W. HARPER bourbon bids America farewell and embarks on its next chapter.
WELCOME HOME Mr. Harper.
Its Back in the US Spring 2015
A good story gets better with each telling, and the legend of I.W. HARPER is no exception. Finally, after nearly 20 years, the I.W. HARPER brand is returning home with two new, exceptional I.W. HARPER bourbons.
